About the Plant

Colmac Energy, Inc. (CEI) is a California corporation that was formed by ACI to build, own and operate a 47 megawatt (net) biomass-fueled small power production facility on approximately 104 acres of land on the Cabazon Indian Reservation near Mecca, California. The facility is one of the largest biomass plants in California and sells its electricity to Southern California Edison under a long-term power purchase agreement.

Design and engineering of the Mecca plant began in 1989 and construction was completed in 1992. During the time that ACI operated the plant, CEI achieved a consistently high capacity factor (low 90%'s).
