Notice from the ACI Board of Directors
Jan. 21, 2011
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of ACI’s Chairman and Founder, Mr. Willis S. McLeese on January 5th at the age of 97.
Mr. McLeese had been Chairman of the Board of ACI since 1982 and was the initial leading force behind the Company’s expansion into the independent power producer market place. Mr. McLeese has had a long track-record of success in business, attributable to his unparalleled work ethic (including daily work routines right up until December, 2010) and his innovative and creative approach to every day obstacles.
Mr. McLeese is widely known for his various philanthropic efforts. His passion for horses and disabled individuals led him to support the Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians or GRACE, giving this worthwhile organization a home at his stable near Owen Sound, Ontario, for almost 20 years.
His efforts to help young people learn leadership and communication skills led Willis to support and nurture the Canadian Student Debating Federation (CSDF) for almost 40 years, culminating in the creation of the Willis S. McLeese Chair in Debating housed at Upper Canada College.
Mr. Robert S. McLeese, the current President and CEO of ACI will be taking on the additional role of Chairman. Rob is Mr. Willis S. McLeese’s son and has been the President and CEO of ACI for the past ten years. Rob will continue to be responsible for the day-to-day decisions and strategic direction of ACI.
Sincerely,
ACI’s Board of Directors |
