Clarion Altela Environmental Services (CAES) is a joint venture between ACI Energy, Inc. (ACI), an investment holding company , and Altela, Inc. (Altela), a water desalination company. Together, these two companies have partnered to recycle brackish oilfield and natural gas wastewater into clean distilled water that is the same quality as rainwater and can be recycled and reused by the oil and gas industry.
About CAES
Altela provides the technology to clean the brackish water to a quality higher than state and federal standards, while ACI provides the working infrastructure and operational facilities. The first water treatment facility is located along Interstate 80, Exit 62, in Piney Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
The joint venture is a centralized wastewater treatment facility for the treatment, re-use and/or disposal of Marcellus Shale Basin frac flowback and produced water. Safe disposal of frac water is a serious challenge in the region as high volumes of this water are currently being driven long distances by large trucks to injection wells in Ohio. CAES offers a predictable, lower cost disposal alternative with the added benefit of reducing truck traffic throughout the Marcellus Shale.

Treating Water Naturally
AltelaRain® mimics nature’s hydrologic cycle exactly, but brings the two-step process, evaporation and condensation, closer together physically.
